We were appointed Joint Administrators of Sutton Theatres Trust today. Sutton Theatres Trust operated the Charles Cryer theatre in Carshalton and the Secombe theatre in Sutton. It took over both businesses from the local council in 2015. Attendances had doubled since the company took over the running of the theatres; however this still proved too low to continue operating. The company has therefore been placed into administration to allow the Administrators to try to find a buyer. Expressions of interest should be sent to the Administrators as soon as possible.
We weren't intending to take part in the competition this year, but we have been nominated and it has just been announced that we are finalists yet again. Watch this space.
Fairfield Halls, Croydon's premier entertainment and conference venue since 1962, closed its doors on Friday. Today, community based charity Fairfield (Croydon) Limited, which operated the venue, went into administration. The Joint Administrators, Chris Herron and Nicky Fisher of Herron Fisher, will now deal with the remaining assets and creditors of the charity to ensure the best results for all involved in a difficult and emotional situation. Despite closure of the venue, we are looking for a buyer for any part of the business that can be salvaged.
